It was 17 degrees when I flew out of Klamath. A few short hours later, I arrived in Austin, where it was a balmy 83 degrees. Sadly, that warmth didn’t last long. By the next morning, it was rainy and cold. A perfect day to stay indoors! I wasn’t in Texas to soak up sun anyway. There was a conference to attend, and things to learn.

On March 11, I attended the E-A-R Hearing Conservation Seminar in Austin, Texas. It was a full day of instruction on hearing protection and conservation, with emphasis on prevention of hearing loss. Focusing mostly on industrial hearing conservation programs, the seminar refreshed my knowledge on the mechanics of hearing and the science of hearing protection. As the saying goes, you don’t know what you have ‘til it’s gone. This truly applies to hearing. Many people put very little thought into protecting their hearing until damage is done. It was a very informational and entertaining seminar. I would highly recommend it to anyone involved in hearing conservation. You can find out more by clicking here to visit the E-A-R web site.
